いくつか見比べてSQLコースを選んだとき、これはレクチャーが3時間と短めでした。同じ値段で長い授業もありました。つまり他より割高、しかし評価が高い。

音声・字幕とも英語のみなので、B1-2レベルでやれるのか…と思いつつポチリました。これで躓いてたら今後やっていけん。セールだったのでカート内計30時間超で5,000円以内、あざます！

感想

1. Google BigQueryのTipsがわかる
2. 講師が好み。翻訳は微妙。
3. スキルレベルの最低ラインはある

１．使える手段をサクサク紹介してくれるので、実践向きです。しばらくSQLを中心に勉強してきたところに、便利機能と他サービス接続のTipsが聞けるので楽しかった。

悩ましいのはクラウドサービスのあるある、頻繁にUIが変わるところ。このコース自体は2022年3月に更新されていますが、2023年10月時点、既に細部で違う場所があります。メニューがまとまったりチェックが省略されたり、表示が別カテゴリに潜ったりすると動揺しますね。まして英語表記だから自分の画面がそのままじゃなくてもどかしい。ほとんどはユーザーのための改良なので、「あっ、便利になってる」が多かった。

２．受け始めて思った。講師の声も話し方も好き（ヲタ勢）。ちなみにサムネイルの写真もかっこいい。ミーハーか！いや、結構大事ですこの動機。

全英語なので、最初こそスクリプト読んで訳して理解して動画見て、と段階を踏みましたが、挫折。講義毎に全スクリプトが表示されるけど、翻訳は完璧じゃない。講師は話しながらなので「So, it.. Oh, that's」など相槌あり（この自然体なとこがまた好きなのだけど）、自動翻訳違い例「9」→「Q」あり、10分ぶんの不完全な翻訳読んで動画見るのは効率が悪い。

聞き流しで理解できれば、動画見ながらで進められました。字幕で「このボタンを」と書いてあったとしても、見てれば一発で分かりますもん…最低限の英語リスニング力は必要だな…。

３．コースに表示されている受講スキルレベルは「すべて」ですが、そんなことないです。最後のセクションでも書かれていたんですが、最低限のSQL知識がないと修了は難しいです。マーケティングは 営業担当者 or GA4 見たことあればひるまないかな…海外の基準わからない。

途中の知識チェックで「CREATE TABLE」記述があって、え、ここまでの動画で構築系なかったですよね。。と突っ込みたくなりました。このとき先日紹介した本「SQLパズル」が役に立ちました。どこで何が生きるかわからない。教育プラットフォームでたまにある、画面上で記述＆コードチェックできるの便利ですよね。あの空間は機能を限定してるから組み込めるんだろうか…。

受講後の満足感はあります。ラストで講師が「よくやった！おめでとう！」と言ってくれます。こういうの毎回うれしい。アナリティクス認定の時を思い出しました。内容は例えるなら、大学のサークル勧誘で体験入部する感覚。凝縮してあるから楽しいんだけど、ガチでやるなら甘くないんだよと。

一番衝撃だったTipsが超初歩の「クエリ整形」でした。ダラダラ書いても押すだけで整えてくれるなんて！ずっと地味にインデントしていました。乙。

When I compared several SQL courses, this one had shorter videos. There were also longer courses for the same price. In other words, it is more expensive than others, but it is highly rated.

I was a little concerned that the audio and subtitles were only in English. But if I have problems with that, I won't be able to work in English. It was on sale, so I paid less than 5,000 yen for over 30 hours in my cart, thanks!

Characteristics

• The instructor is a certified GMP expert and has presented officially at the Google Data & Analytics Summit.
• A concise overview of Google BigQuery and data linkage/visualisation
• You can test your knowledge with practice tests along the way.

Thoughts

1. Learn about the useful features of Google BigQuery
2. I like the speaker. The translation is a bit strange.
3. Some SQL knowledge required

1. It is suitable for practical use as it introduces methods that can be used. For me, I had been studying mainly SQL for a while, but it was fun to hear about useful functions and methods for connecting to other services.

What is annoying is that the interface changes frequently, which is common with cloud services. The course itself was updated in March 2022, but as of October 2023 there are already some differences in details. I was confused when menus were grouped together, controls were omitted or the display was hidden in another category. It's also frustrating that the screen doesn't look exactly the same in English. Most of the improvements were for the user, so I thought, "Oh, it's more convenient".

2. That's what I thought when I started studing it. I like the voice of the teacher and the way he speaks (I'm an otaku). The thumbnails are cool too. This motivation is quite important.

Since it was all in English, I first read the script, translated it, understood it, and then watched the video, but I failed. The full script is shown for each lecture, but the translation is not perfect. The lecturer speaks, so there are some compliments like "So, it. Oh, that's" (I also like this naturalness), there is one example where the automatic translation is different from "9" to "Q"... Reading translations before watching videos is inefficient.

If I could understand it just by listening, I could continue while watching the video. Even if the subtitles say ``click this button'', you can easily understand it by watching the video, so you'll need at least a minimum level of English listening skills.

3. The skill level displayed for the course is "All". As mentioned in the last section, it is difficult to complete the course without a minimum knowledge of SQL.

When I saw "CREATE TABLE" during the knowledge check, I was worried and thought "I don't think the previous videos covered construction". I don't think beginners will understand it. At this point, the book "SQL Puzzle", which I introduced the other day, was helpful.

It's convenient to be able to write and check code on the screen, which I sometimes see with online study tools.

I feel satisfied after the course. At the end, the teacher says, "Well done! Congratulations!". I'm always happy when that happens. It reminded me of when I did my analytics certification. If I had to compare the content, it would be like joining a club at university for a trial period. It's fun because it's condensed, but if you're serious about it, it's not so sweet.

The most shocking tip was the very basic "query formatting". Even if you are a lazy writer, just press the button and it tidies up! I've always been indented.
